This year’s one acts are “An Absolutely True Story (As Told by a Bunch of Lying Liars),” “The Internet is Distract…Oh, Look a Kitten!” and “Law and Order: Fairy Tale Unit.”
In “An Absolutely True Story (As Told by a Bunch of Lying Liars),” someone is in enormous trouble for breaking an heirloom vase in the Peterson living room. Each suspect’s account is more outlandish than the last, from siblings Fred and Kelly, to their deeply weird friends, Ava and Barney, to the family dog. Someone is lying, but who? The truth is slippery and may involve more Nutella than you can imagine!
In “The Internet is Distract…Oh, Look a Kitten!,” Micah has twenty minutes to finish her paper on The Great Gatsby. She just has to check a few facts on the internet first. Unfortunately, the web is a place where boxing cats, Facebook posts, pig-throwing games, and more threaten to take over Micah’s schoolwork.
In “Law and Order: Fairy Tale Unit,” we discover that in the fairy tale criminal justice system, the characters are represented by two separate yet equally ridiculous groups: the fairy tale police who investigate fairy tale crime, and the fairy tale district attorneys who prosecute these offenders. These are their stories.
