Director - DeMelfi School of Music
Daniel DeMelfi came to MMI in 2008 as a music instructor, then became the mid school chorus director in 2009. In 2010, Mr. DeMelfi started the Glee Club and is currently the director. In addition, he teaches Music Theory, History of Western Music, and Song Composition, as well as private piano lessons at the school during the school day. Mr. DeMelfi has been teaching music for over 38 years. He has authored "Piano Lessons For Life", and he has composed numerous works to include, "Cold December Night" and "The Choice".
Mr. DeMelfi is a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers, Piano Teachers' Hall of Fame, Music Teachers' National Association, PA Music Teachers' Association, Northeast PMTA, American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, and a former member of NARAS. He is very involved in our community with organizations such as Silent Santa, Sounds of the Season, UNICO Italian-American Service Organization, and the Wiltsie Performing Arts Center.
"I am truly blessed to be able to do what I love as my life's work. Music has always been a part of my life, and I am happy to share my love for music with my students," DeMelfi said.
Daniel DeMelfi lives in Hazleton with his wife, Esme, and their three children, Chiara '15, Gabriella '17, and Daniel '19.
