Mrs. Novotney serves as the Poetry Out Loud coordinator and has had the opportunity to take MMI Students to the state-level competition twice. In the summer of 2018, she attended Exeter Humanities Institute, along with Mrs. Titus, where student-centered, discussion-based education called the Harkness approach to teaching was the focus. Mrs. Novotney uses the Harkness approach in her English classes.
"I love working with students because it is a different experience every day for every class. My passion has always been writing and teaching, so being able to instruct students in English is so much more than just a job. It is my life's passion. Becoming a member of the team at MMI Prep is a wonderful gift. I am able to share my knowledge and experience with eager, motivated students who will go on to achieve great things in life. Since I am from Los Angeles, California, I hope that the perspectives I share with my students will enrich their education."
Mrs. Novotney currently resides in Drums with her husband, daughter, and two cats.
