The mid-school baseball team plays an exhibition schedule against area schools and provides mid-school students the opportunity to learn the fundatmental expectations of the MMI baseball program. The team is coming off back to back winning seasons that has left the varsity baseball program with high expectations and excitement for the younger players that are coming up. The team is returning a core group of its key players in 2017.
The boys' mid-school basketball team has had solid seasons the past few years, and the 2015-2016 season was no exception. The team finished 4th in the regular season of the Anthracite League, which is comprised of several Hazleton Area middle school teams and Holy Family, and qualified for the playoffs. The team lost a hard fought semi-final playoff game, but the season was still one of the best in Preppers mid-school basketball history. The team is coached by Ned McNelis with assistance from Larry Walko.
The Lady Preppers compete in the very competitive Anthracite League which includes several Hazleton middle schools and Holy Family. The girls had one of the best seasons in girls' mid-school basketball history as they finished 4th in the regular season and qualified for the playoffs. Expectations will be high again in 2016-2017 as many of the core players will be back. The middle school team is coached by RJ Gilgore and Todd Ronco with assistance from Bill Locke and Fred Loss.
The mid-school soccer team will be coached by Aaron Floryshak with the Assistant Coach being Laurie Mele. With the team's inception in 2014, the program has continued to imrove each season. The roster of players continues to grow and get stronger each new year. The team plays a 10-game regular season against other WVC schools.
The 2016-2017 team will once again be comprised of 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. The team plays a 12-game regular season in the WVC Junior High League. The team will have a lot of new faces but should have plenty of competitive softball experience. They are looking forward to an exciting season and to improve with each game.
