MMI Preparatory School recently held a student induction ceremony for the Spanish, Chinese and German national honor societies.
Head of School Thomas G. Hood welcomed those in attendance to open the ceremony and MMI Spanish instructor Dennis Clarke served as guest speaker. Clarke, who has been teaching at MMI since 1979, is the founder of the school’s Pablo Picasso Chapter of the Spanish Honor Society and began MMI’s annual piñata contest.
As adviser, Clarke inducted new members who distinguished themselves as outstanding Spanish language students into the Pablo Picasso Chapter of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica. Students inducted are: Angelica Alday, daughter of Dr. Senen and Dr. Milagros Azcueta-Alday, Mountaintop; Caitlyn Kline, daughter of Dr. John and Dr. June Kline, Mountaintop; Chava Kornblatt, daughter of Joseph and Georgia Kornblatt, Kingston; Gabriella Kupsho, daughter of Dr. Robert and Diane Kupsho, Drums; Caelyn McGran, daughter of John and Barbara McGran, Drums; Mahad Muhammad, son of Ikram and Alia Muhammad, Mountaintop; Jessica Smith, daughter of Jonathan and Beatrice Russo-Smith, White Haven; and Julia Snyder, daughter of Dr. Christopher and Dr. Jill Snyder, Sugarloaf. Chapter officers Jay Solgama, president; Andrew Alday, vice president; Mikayla Dove, secretary; Kevin Cibak, treasurer; and Allison McGeehan, historian, also participated in the ceremony.
Chapter president Katie Eschenbach gave a welcome address and inducted new members who distinguished themselves as outstanding Chinese language students into MMI’s Echoes of Wisdom and Philosophy chapter of the National Chinese Honor Society. Students inducted are: Ryan Eschenbach, son of David and Maureen Eschenbach, Drums; Olivia Minzola, daughter of Joseph and Debra Minzola, Drums; Keenan Overa, son of Timothy and Lori Overa, Drums; Danielle Pileggi, daughter of Daniel and Sandra Pileggi, Albrightsville; and Erin Sari, daughter of Izzet and Mumine Sari, Sugarloaf. Chapter officers Terrance Jankouskas, co-vice president; Jessica Pileggi, co-vice president; Alyssa Famalette, treasurer; Allison Warner-Senape, secretary; and Brian Galbiati, historian, also participated in the ceremony. MMI Chinese teacher Christina Spencer is the chapter adviser.
Chapter adviser and MMI German instructor Gabriela Moustardas inducted new members who distinguished themselves as outstanding German language students into the Simon Faltz Chapter of the German National Honor Society, Delta Epsilon Phi. Students inducted are: David Caldwell, son of David and Maria Caldwell, Mountaintop, and Nicolo Cottone, son of Nicolino and Milenka Cottone, Hazleton. Chapter officers Samanta Cottone, president; Brian Driscoll, vice president; Garrett Kost, secretary; and Megan Marchetti, treasurer, also participated in the ceremony.
