MMI Preparatory School, located at 154 Centre Street in Freeland, will host its annual Open House this Sunday, March 18, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The event is open to the public and features special research projects in academic fields and the culinary arts that were created by MMI students. State Street Corporation is the event sponsor.
Visitors can view the academic projects from 2 to 4 p.m., while the culinary projects will be available to see and sample from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
All MMI students in grades six through 12 create projects in either literature, mathematics, science, or social studies. Culinary projects are reserved for senior students. The projects will be on display at various locations throughout the school.
MMI students prepare all projects under the guidance of faculty advisers. “Coral Reef Café,” “Science Behind the Eiffel Tower,” “Cryptography: Protect your Data,” “Geometry in Architecture,” “Bilingualism,” “Fermat’s Last Theorem,” “Terracotta Army,” and “Taste of Two Cities” are some of this year’s projects.
A panel of judges from Penn State Hazleton critique the projects. The winners are then honored at a special assembly.
