Nine MMI Preparatory School students represented the school at the recent MATHCOUNTS virtual chapter competition and eighth grader Alexander Composto qualified to participate in the Chapter Invitational.

Sixth graders Philip Benyo, Ian Composto, Simona Sickler and Amanda Stoffa; seventh grade students Sharan Parikh and Arushi Solgama; and eighth graders Corey Buchman and Kendall Orozco also participated in the chapter competition. MMI Mathematics instructor Susan Moyer was the advisor for the event.

MATHCOUNTS provides engaging math programs to U.S. middle school students of all ability levels. The program builds problem solving skills and positive attitudes about math so students embrace challenges and expand their academic and career opportunities in the future.

The MATHCOUNTS Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that reaches students in grades 6-8 in all U.S. states and territories with three extracurricular math programs. More than a quarter million students participate in the programs or use the organization’s resources each year.
