MMI Preparatory School in Freeland recently received a $40,000 contribution from the United Way of Wyoming Valley, presented by Nina C. Dei Tos ’01 MPA, Vice President of Resource Development. These funds will be used for scholarship support for MMI students who reside in the Wyoming Valley and meet the criteria for an Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Scholarship.

MMI Head of School Thomas G. Hood said, “The United Way of Wyoming Valley’s contribution is greatly appreciated by the entire MMI family, particularly the students who will directly benefit by receiving financial aid from the EITC program. On behalf of those students and their families, I would like to express our gratitude to the United Way of Wyoming Valley.”
Dei Tos said, “We are delighted to have the opportunity to participate in the EITC program and help provide scholarship assistance to many deserving students at MMI from the Wyoming Valley.”

The United Way of Wyoming Valley brings people together from all across the community: government, businesses, faith groups, non-profits, the labor movement, and ordinary citizens – tackling imperative issues – producing positive and meaningful results.  This past year, more than 20 local organizations participated in United Way’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) program raising more than $400,000 for Pre-K and K-12 scholarships at local schools and children’s agencies.  The designations for these funds were decided by a group of volunteer community leaders as part of an allocation team.
