Two students from MMI Preparatory School have been chosen to perform at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 9 band and orchestra festivals.
Sophomore Angelica Alday, daughter of Dr. Senen Alday and Milagros Azcueta-Alday of Mountaintop, will play the violin at the PMEA District 9 Orchestra Festival January 13-15 at North Pocono High School. Senior Sarah Moyer, daughter of Robert and Susan Moyer of Bowmanstown, will play the flute at the District 9 Band Festival January 27-29 at Pittston Area High School.
PMEA District 9 is comprised of Luzerne, Lackawanna, Wayne, Wyoming and Susquehanna counties.
The mission of PMEA is to advance music education by encouraging excellence in the study, teaching, and making of music. The organization focuses on promoting quality music education, learning, and performance in schools and communities. PMEA is a service organization for music education in the Commonwealth and is an affiliate of the 65,000-member Music Educators National Conference (MENC). The membership includes those engaged in music instruction at all levels, from preschool through college and university, retired educators, and those in the music industry. PMEA provides leadership in professional growth and offers special opportunities for musical development to school students.
