The Joseph A. Turri ’45 Library and Learning Center, which officially opened on May 10, 2012, is an inviting, tranquil, and inspiring learning environment that seamlessly blends a traditional library with modern technology.
The Library
With a collection of approximately 8,000 books and an extensive, updated e-book selection, the library caters to a variety of needs whether students are conducting research for class, delving into a fictional novel for independent reading, or relaxing in a comfortable armchair to do homework.
Features of the library include:
- Digital Resources: Access a wide range of online databases, journals, and multimedia resources.
- Quiet Study Areas: Enjoy dedicated quiet zones for focused study.
- Qualified Library Staff: Receive assistance and support from knowledgeable library staff to help with research, finding resources, and using library technology.
The Learning Center
The Learning Center offers both scheduled and drop-in peer tutoring sessions in all core subjects from Monday through Thursday after school from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM and on Wednesday mornings during the Collaborative Block from 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM. Students can make an appointment or simply stop by to work with a qualified tutor.
In addition to peer tutoring, the Learning Center features specialized support services:
- Writing Center: Provides assistance with all stages of the writing process, from brainstorming and outlining to drafting and revising essays and research papers.
- Math Center: Offers help with mathematical concepts, homework problems, and preparation for exams in all levels of math courses.
- Language Center: Supports students in language learning, offering help with grammar, vocabulary, conversation practice, and cultural insights for various languages.
