Dr. Thomas P.J. McGraw, D.O. ’52 is a longtime and well-respected family practice physician, anesthesiologist and quality assurance director. Tom’s life has been an example of courage and determination. He contracted polio at an early age and underwent long and painful treatments to regain the use of his limbs. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania where he was told that he would not be physically able to handle the rigors of medicine. After graduation, Tom taught chemistry and physics in the Philadelphia area but kept alive his dream to become a physician. In 1960, he entered Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and four years later fulfilled his life-long goal of becoming a doctor. During his many years practicing at Memorial Osteopathic Hospital in York, he was twice named Alumnus of the Year.
