Junior Leadership is a leadership development and community awareness program for high school juniors which encourages and enables potential young leaders to develop their leadership skills while increasing their awareness of the various elements that form their community.
Junior Leadership offers students the opportunity to work with adult leaders in their community through several day-long seminars. The sessions each have a different focus and are held once a month for several months. The program gives students the opportunity to develop leadership, communication and team building skills. An integral part of student learning is the selection, organization and implementation of a community service project.
The program encourages students to recognize and develop the skills needed for leadership potential, provides opportunities for a diverse group of students to interact with each other and the community leaders and decision makers and acquaints students with community needs, resources and other aspects of the area.
