Parents and children invited to learn more about an MMI education at Exploration Day Event on Jan. 29

Parents and children are invited to learn more about an MMI education at the Exploration Day on Saturday January 29, 2022 beginning at 9 a.m. on the MMI campus at 154 Centre Street in Freeland. Registration is required and space is limited.

MMI’s Exploration Day gives parents and students in grades 6 through 12 an opportunity to explore the school’s admissions process and meet other families who are also making an MMI decision.

Parents can learn about MMI’s smaller class sizes, personal attention, and co-curricular and extra-curricular options in athletics, the arts, and academics, as well as its well-rounded, college preparatory liberal arts education.

Community Bank, N.A. makes $5,000 EITC donation to MMI Preparatory School

MMI Preparatory School recently received a $5,000 contribution from Community Bank, N.A. through the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program to go toward need-based scholarships at the school.

MMI Senior Named Semifinalist in the Coca-Cola Scholars Program

Senior Daniella Vasquez has been named a Semifinalist for the 2022 class of the Coca-Cola Scholars Program, moving to the next round of the selection process to become a Coca-Cola Scholar and receive a $20,000 college scholarship. A joint effort of Coca-Cola bottlers across the country and The Coca-Cola Company, the Coca-Cola Scholars Program is the largest corporate-sponsored, achievement-based scholarship program in the United States. With the addition of the 2022 class, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation will have provided more than 6,600 Coke Scholars nationwide with over $78 million in scholarships over the course of 34 years.

MMI Celebrates Annual Founder's Day

Students at MMI Preparatory School honored their School’s founder, Eckley Brinton Coxe, and his wife, Sophia Georgianna Coxe, during a program at the school and graveside service on Wednesday, giving thanks for the Coxes’ contributions to the school and the area.

Senior class officers presented information about MMI’s History virtually to advisories on Wednesday morning. A traditional Thanksgiving lunch was provided by the school and dessert was donated by the Parents Association.  In the afternoon, the senior class traveled to the grounds of St. James Episcopal Church in Drifton, where they held a wreath-laying ceremony at the gravesites of Mr. and Mrs. Coxe, more than 120 years after Eckley Coxe’s death.

MMI Sophomore Moves on to District VFW Essay Scholarship Contest

MMI Preparatory School sophomore Paul Neyhart won the club-level round of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Voice of Democracy Audio-Essay Scholarship Competition for his essay on this year’s theme, “America: Where Do We Go From Here?”. Neyhart is the son of Joyce and Paul Neyhart of Hazleton.

The Effect of Positivity on Resilience

It can be very hard to find the small positives in a world that is hectic for us and our students, especially with the rigorous academic challenges at a school like MMI. The pre-teen and teenage years are full of opportunities for children to express themselves in both positive and negative ways. The impact of a positive relationship between a child and parent (or other adult) has an effect on how they handle the choices they make. Rewarding students, even for the smallest positive, with the greatest reward of all-our time and attention – can have a big impact on how they think and react to many choices and obstacles.
