MMI Prepper Playhouse Spring Musical

MMI Prepper Playhouse will present “The New Mel Brooks Musical, Young Frankenstein” on Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6, at 7 p.m. in the MMI Athletic and Drama Complex.

The musical’s book was written by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan and the lyrics and music were written by Mel Brooks. Please note: this show contains classic, Mel Brooks high-quality low comedy. Parental guidance is suggested.

The story follows Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced “Fronkensteen”) as he inherits a castle in Transylvania containing Igor, Inga, and Frau Blucher. After discovering the secret entrance to his grandfather’s laboratory, Frederick decides to carry on the family experiments and creates a monster of his own.

Main cast members and their characters are: Frederick Frankenstein – Benjamin Putnam, Inga – Kaitlyn Bellizia, Igor­ – Andrew Decker, Frau Blucher – Lauren Herman, Elizabeth – Alyssa Sweda, The Monster – Elliot Blasko; Inspector Kemp – Daniel DeMelfi, and the Hermit – Justin Weiksner. 

Ensemble cast members include: Adam Tron, Wesley Guarneri, Brian Payne, Heath Williams, Jason Salio, Robert Orbin, Amanda Kalada-Kania, Kelisa Hysenbegasi, Mahum Ahmed, Emily Ryan, Millie Symbula, Viva Barrett, Lauren Urosevich, Sarah Yanuzzi, Annabel Dobash, Nanci Major, Ava Putnam, Caylee Herseim, Kathryn Sissick, Khristian Banks, Alexander Composto, Aiden Hosier, and Joshua Naugle.

Crew members include: Emily Ankiewicz, Hunter Blasko, Elizabeth Borchick, Madeline Dryfoos, McKenna Gallagher, Sydney Kohl, Catherine Havrilla, Macy Zenier, Lindsay Horvat, Greg Leonard, Frederick Mejia, Christine Park, Ariah Saeed, Alexander Sessock, Alexandra Tierney, Ella Urosevich, Darren Zheng, Gina Galada, Althea Stewart, Brenna Eckhart, London Chehovich, Emily Hunsinger, Ashley Bonafacio, Willa Bartholomew, Eve Corazza, Evelyn LaCombe, Mia Van den Berg, and Sophia Plonk.

The musical is under the direction of Student Director Summer Evancho, Student Art Director Bailey Slusser and Stage Manager Kaitlyn McGeehan. The production is also under the faculty guidance of Director Joanne Oakum, Art Director Lisa Ferry, Wardrobe Director Susan Moyer and Technical Director T.R. Laputka.
