MMI Preparatory School recently held their Spring Athletic Awards Banquet to honor all spring season athletes and their achievements during the 2023-2024 school year.
MMI’s Director of Athletics, Joe Flanagan, complimented the spring athletes on their outstanding season and for finishing the athletic year on a positive note. He said, “The spring sports carried forward the success of the 2023-2024 athletic seasons. Boys Tennis hosted a district meet, and our baseball team is still in play, having qualified for the District 2 title game. Additionally, both middle school softball and baseball, along with all our middle school sports, demonstrated competitiveness and a strong commitment to building our upper school programs.”
During the ceremony, athletes received awards in the MVP, Most Improved, and Coach’s Award categories and varsity letter recipients were recognized.
The upper school Most Valuable Players, Most Improved Players, and Coach’s Award recipients, are as follows:
Boys Tennis: MVP — Xavier Bleiler, junior, Mountain Top; Coaches Award — Nathan Sissick, senior, Drums; Most Improved — Dominic Raifsnider, senior, Lake Harmony.
Boys Baseball: Co-MVPs — Andrew Burns, senior, White Haven; Zachary Yenchko, senior, Freeland; Coaches Awards — John Drobnock, senior, West Hazleton.
Junior High Softball: Co-MVPs — Alexa Fazio, freshman, Freeland; Caitlyn Carter, freshman, Mountain Top; Most Improved — Gabriella Carsia, eighth grade, Sugarloaf.
Junior High Baseball: MVP — Derek Radzwich, eighth grade, Conyngham; Coaches Award — Tyler Swircek, seventh grade, Hazleton; Most Improved — Jackson Moore, eighth grade, Hazleton.
