MMI’s Relay For Life team raised $1,891 and will donate the funds to the American Cancer Society during the annual Relay For Life of Greater Hazleton, which will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Hazleton Area High School Track at Cougar Park on 23rd Street in Hazleton.
MMI’s team raised the money by selling daffodils, participating in a pancake breakfast at Applebee’s and selling team T-shirts.
Juniors Sydney Karpowich, Julia Snyder, and Talia Logerfo are the team captains and Grete Floryshak serves as faculty adviser for the team.
All team members will participate in Saturday’s events, which include the opening ceremonies at 10 a.m., the Survivor/Caregiver celebration beginning at 11 a.m., the Fight Back Ceremony at 1 p.m., the Luminaria Ceremony at dusk and the Closing Ceremony at 11 p.m.
There will be a variety of activities, events and entertainment throughout the day, including the Vendor/Craft Show from noon to 6 p.m. and the Classic Car Drive-In from 5-7 p.m.
