MMI sophomore Abigail Sparich won the local chapter contest and earned 3^rd place at the district level in the 2022 PA American Legion Essay Contest. Sparich is the daughter of Joe and Michele Sparich of Weatherly.

This year’s essay theme was “What Does The 19^th Amendment Mean to Me?” The Freeland American Legion sponsors the local chapter contest and forwarded Sparich’s essay on to the district level. The PA American Legion Essay Contest provides students an opportunity to showcase their talents and abilities in English by using originality, accuracy, and research as evidence, while learning that the responsibilities and duties of good citizenship can be both rewarding and fun.
