Claire Sheen, a student at MMI Preparatory School, has been named a High Scorer by the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Sheen, the daughter of Kwangsup and Chaeyun Sheen of Mountaintop, took the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and met requirements to enter the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. She is a rising senior at MMI and will receive recognition in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program this fall.
With a Selection Index score of 201 or above, high performers such as Sheen have shown outstanding academic potential. Of some 1.5 million program entrants, each of these students is among the 50,000 highest-scoring participants who will be recognized in the fall of their senior year.
Of the more than 50,000 high scorers nationwide, about 16,000 will be named National Merit Program Semifinalists, representing the top scorers in each state, and approximately 34,000 others will be commended for their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT. Semifinalists and Commended Students in the 2015 National Merit Program will learn of their standing in September. Semifinalists will have an opportunity to continue in the competition for about 8,000 National Merit Scholarships to be offered in 2015.
