Lauren Talbott, Robert Orbin, and Nathaniel Neidlinger placed in the top three during MMI Preparatory School’s Sixth Grade Science Fair, which was held on December 1 in the MMI Cafeteria.
Talbott captured first place for her project entitled “What’s in Your Water?” Orbin was second for his project called “Veggie Power!” Neidlinger came in third for his project entitled “How Yeast Affects the Size of Bread.”
Sophia Plonk (“Borax Crystals”) and Jonas Aponick (“Nothing but Net: The Science of Shooting Hoops.”) both received Honorable Mentions.
Twenty-seven sixth grade students presented information on a variety of experiments during the science fair. In each display, students had to provide their hypothesis, their research method, and outcomes. Additional topics included: “The Science of Bath Bombs,” “Which Surface is the Dirtiest,” “Can Dawn Clean Birds Impacted by Oil Spills,” “Salt Concentration in Water to Make an Egg Float,” “How Bright Can you Glow?,” and “Plant Growth in Light and Dark.”
Projects were judged by teachers as well as National Science Honor Society Members.
