Wall of Fame Class of 2007
Mr. Charles T. Butler had a long and significant association with MMI as a teacher, board member, volunteer leader and benefactor. His direct involvement began in the 1960s when he served as mathematics instructor and substitute teacher. From 1969 to 1986, Mr. Butler served on the MMI Board and was chairman from 1976 to 1978. In his own quiet and deliberate way, he spearheaded the move to add seventh and eighth grade and was instrumental in bringing computer technology to MMI. In recognition of his contributions, the Board of Directors proclaimed Mr. Butler the “Father of the MMI Preparatory School Computer Program” in 1992. Mr. Butler served as chairman of the Century II Building Committee and was a leading volunteer and contributor for every major fundraising campaign at MMI. Mr. Butler donated one of the largest estate gifts to the school and MMI established The Charles T. Butler Endowed President’s Chair and The David W. Stiller ‘61 PhD Endowed Chemistry Chair given by Charles. T. Butler in his honor.
