Wall of Fame Class of 2009
Mr. Simon Faltz was a native of Danzig, Poland where he attended German elementary and Polish high schools. The Faltz family immigrated to Trinidad in British West Indies where he graduated from the Queen’s Royal High School. Following World War II, Mr. Faltz came to the United States and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wilkes University and a Master’s degree from Bucknell University. Mr. Faltz accepted a teaching position at MMI in 1959 and taught German, World History and Advanced Placement European History until his retirement in 1987. He was much beloved by his students and served as a phenomenal mentor to many. Mr. Faltz started an MMI chapter of Delta Epsilon Phi, the National German Honor Society. In recognition for his service to MMI and his commitment to German and European studies, the chapter was later named in his honor. He also advised the MMI Chess Club. In 1990, upon his passing, the MMI Minamek yearbook was dedicated in his memory. The dedication described him as “an experienced educator who passed a lifetime of wisdom to so many students during more than thirty years at MMI. He will be greatly missed.”
