UGI Energy Services recently donated $15,000 to MMI Preparatory School as part of the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) program.

The OSTC program, along with the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program, enables a Pennsylvania business to gift up to $750,000 of its Pennsylvania state tax dollars directly to the school’s scholarship program. Tax credits are given for 90 percent of gifts given in two consecutive years, or 75 percent of a one-year gift. EITC and OSTC enable companies to support local schools at a minimum cost.

MMI Director of Advancement Kim McNulty said, “On behalf of everyone at MMI, I’d like to thank UGI Energy Services for their generous contributions this year to our school. As a result of the generosity of businesses like UGI Energy Services, MMI students have received more than $3 million in direct scholarships since our program’s inception in 2005. When companies contribute to MMI through the EITC or OSTC program, their gift directly supports funding for children in need to attend our school. It’s a win-win for both the company and MMI.”

“At UGI Energy Services, we recognize the importance of a quality education and know that not all families have the same opportunities to provide the best learning environment for their children,” said Joe Hartz, president of UGI Energy Services. “We are proud to support schools like MMI Preparatory School and invest in our future workforce and community leaders.”
