UGI Services makes OSTC donation to MMI

UGI Energy Services recently made a $5,000 donation to MMI Preparatory School as part of the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) program.

MMI Director of Advancement Kim McNulty said, “I’d like to thank UGI Energy Services for their generous contribution to our school. Since 2005, MMI students have received nearly $3.9 million in scholarship support thanks to the contributions of businesses like UGI Energy Services. When companies contribute to MMI through the OSTC or EITC program, it helps our efforts to make our educational experience available to the most capable students regardless of their financial circumstances.”

Joe Hartz, president of UGI Energy Services said, “We are pleased to support students and educational programs across Pennsylvania. The OSTC program has provided funding to give students an opportunity for quality learning in a safe environment. At UGI, we believe that education is of the utmost importance in the communities where we work and live.”

A subsidiary of UGI Corporation, UGI Energy Services, LLC, markets natural gas, electricity and liquid fuels to commercial, institutional and industrial customers at approximately 43,000 locations in eleven eastern states and Washington, D.C. UGI Energy Services owns and operates natural gas midstream assets such as liquefied natural gas storage and vaporization, underground storage fields, gathering, intra and interstate pipeline systems and compressor stations.  These assets support the retail business as well as our electric generation assets, and peaking plants. The OSTC program, along with the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program, enables a Pennsylvania business to gift up to $750,000 of its Pennsylvania state tax dollars directly to the school’s scholarship program. Tax credits are given for 90 percent of gifts given in two consecutive years, or 75 percent of a one-year gift. EITC and OSTC enable companies to support local schools at a minimum cost.
