MMI Preparatory School senior Josh Witner has committed to continue his athletic and academic career in baseball at Grove City College as a member of the Wolverines Baseball Program.

MMI Preparatory School’s Music Department and Carbon Career and Technical Institute’s (CCTI) Graphic Design Studio recently partnered to design and produce a banner for MMI’s inaugural Tri-M Music Honor Society chapter.

Head of School Mrs. Theresa Long is proud to announce that MMI Preparatory School students had an outstanding showing at the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) competition held on Saturday, March 1 at Wilkes University.

Head of School Mrs. Theresa Long announced that MMI Preparatory School recently received a $500 Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance Grant from Onvo. The School combined the grant funds with a donation from the McGraw Family, made in memory of Dr. Thomas McGraw ’52, and purchased seven new anatomical models for the biology lab.

MMI Preparatory School’s Mock Trial Team earned a 1-1 overall record during their recent District Trials at Luzerne County Courthouse, announced Mrs. Theresa Long, Head of School. The team also saw a number of individual students earn accolades for their performances. This year’s competition trial was The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania vs. Connie MacLeod.

MMI Preparatory School’s Head of School, Theresa Long, is pleased to announce that the school’s MATHCOUNTS team earned third place and had an individual student qualify for States in a recent competition at Wyoming Valley West Middle School, showcasing their mathematical talent.

MMI Preparatory School’s Head of School, Mrs. Theresa Long, proudly announced the winner of this year’s prestigious Best of the Best competition:  sophomore Ian Composto. Ian earned this distinguished honor by delivering an outstanding presentation before the entire student body titled “United States Presidents Who Were Set Up for Failure.”

Sophomore Christina Chrin, daughter of Jeffrey and Dr. Tammy Chrin of Barnesville, represented MMI Preparatory School at the PMEA District 9 Band Festival at Mountain View High School from January 22-24.

Eighty students from MMI Preparatory School competed in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Regional competition on Monday, January 13, at the Woodlands Resorts in Wilkes-Barre. The event included business meetings, a luncheon, and a series of competitions as students vied for a spot at the Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference. 

MMI Head of School Mrs. Theresa Long is pleased to announce The Dr. Philip A. McHale ’58 and Ms. Linda Tishko Scholarship for College Credit Opportunities, a one-time, donor-funded initiative that will reduce 30% of the per-credit cost for eligible students participating in the Pre-College Credit program at Lackawanna College this spring.

Students at MMI Preparatory School honored their School’s founders, Eckley Brinton Coxe, and his wife, Sophia Georgianna Coxe, during a program at graveside service and at the School on Tuesday, giving thanks for the Coxes’ contributions to the School and the area.

MMI Preparatory School senior Mary Kate Kupsky will continue her academic and athletic career in swimming at Tulane University as a member of the Green Wave.

MMI Preparatory School held its Poetry Out Loud competition on Friday, October 25. Six students throughout the freshmen and senior classes competed.
