MMI Student Takes Part in Respected Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Sciences Summer Program

Kiyan Paknezhad, a rising senior at MMI Preparatory School, completed a five-week STEM program at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh. The Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Sciences (PGSS) is a yearly program focused on giving select students the ability to further STEM research by providing advanced courses in mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, and biology, along with hands-on laboratory research. Only 71 high school juniors and seniors from across the state were chosen to take part in this year’s program. MMI Honors Past Students at Inaugural Distinguished Young Alumni Awards

MMI Preparatory School honored former students at Edgewood Country Club for their first Distinguished Alumni Awards. The inaugural event, announced in January by the MMI Board of Directors, aims to become a new tradition in their Alumni Weekend festivities, alternating with their Wall of Fame awards every other year. The honorees, who are all MMI alumni under 30, were nominated based on their contributions in their careers and communities by an eight-member committee. MMI Welcomes Three New Faculty Members for 2024-2025 Academic Year

MMI Preparatory School Head of School Mrs. Theresa Long is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Tammy M. Chrin, Ed.D. as the new Director of College Counseling, Ms. Melissa Zaroda as the new Technology and Engineering Teacher, and Ms. Natasha Keyser as the new French and Latin Language Teacher for the 2024-25 academic year. MMI Students Excel at the FBLA State Leadership Conference

45 MMI students attended this year’s PA Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference held in Hershey from April 8 to April 10. The event boasted nearly 5,000 students from 500 different schools, all competing at various events throughout the weekend. Mrs. Katherine Zucco serves as MMI Preparatory School’s FBLA advisor.

PJAS Regional Participants

Forty-eight MMI Students Participated in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science regionals

Forty-eight MMI Preparatory School students participated in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) regional competition on March 2nd. Twenty-eight students earned first awards (one earned an additional first award in a second category), 18 earned second awards, and three earned third awards. The first award recipients will represent MMI in the state competition at the University Park Campus of Penn State on May 20th.
