Mrs. Theresa Long, MMI’s Head of School, has announced the promotion of Mrs. Marcianna Hosier to the Assistant Head of School at MMI Preparatory School. Mrs. Hosier has been a part of the MMI family since 2015 when she was hired as the Director of Admissions & Marketing. In 2020, Mrs. Hosier joined the faculty as the instructor for Strategic Communication and in 2023, Mrs. Hosier assumed the responsibility of Dean of Students focusing on student life at the School. MMI Preparatory School has announced that Jennifer Novotney, currently serving as the Director of the Joseph A. Turri ’45 Library and Learning Center, will take on the additional role of Director of Curriculum and Instruction. This new administrative-level position will expand Mrs. Novotney’s responsibilities to include curriculum development and implementation, instructional leadership, assessment and evaluation of student learning, and faculty resource management. She will continue to lead the library and learning center while assuming these new duties. MMI Preparatory School won first place in the Luzerne County Envirothon competition. The team consisted of Nathaniel Neidlinger, Kathryn Sissick, Nathan Sissick, Blake Warren, and Amanda Stoffa.

MMI Preparatory School inducted students in to multiple Honor Societies on March 26, 2024.

45 MMI students attended this year’s PA Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference held in Hershey from April 8 to April 10. The event boasted nearly 5,000 students from 500 different schools, all competing at various events throughout the weekend. Mrs. Katherine Zucco serves as MMI Preparatory School’s FBLA advisor.

MMI Preparatory School recently held an Athletic Awards Banquet to honor all winter season athletes and their achievements during the 2023-2024 school year.

Forty-eight MMI Preparatory School students participated in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) regional competition on March 2nd. Twenty-eight students earned first awards (one earned an additional first award in a second category), 18 earned second awards, and three earned third awards. The first award recipients will represent MMI in the state competition at the University Park Campus of Penn State on May 20th.

Senior, Paul Neyhart represented MMI Preparatory School at the 2024 PMEA District 9 Orchestra Festival at Wyoming Valley West High School on February 7th-9th.
