MMI Receives ExxonMobil Grant to Purchase Anatomical Models

Head of School Mrs. Theresa Long announced that MMI Preparatory School recently received a $500 Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance Grant from Onvo. The School combined the grant funds with a donation from the McGraw Family, made in memory of Dr. Thomas McGraw ’52, and purchased seven new anatomical models for the biology lab.

MMI Preparatory School’s Mock Trial Team Earns 1-1 Record at District Trials

MMI Preparatory School’s Mock Trial Team earned a 1-1 overall record during their recent District Trials at Luzerne County Courthouse, announced Mrs. Theresa Long, Head of School. The team also saw a number of individual students earn accolades for their performances. This year’s competition trial was The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania vs. Connie MacLeod.

MMI Students Perform at the FBLA Regional Conference

Eighty students from MMI Preparatory School competed in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Regional competition on Monday, January 13, at the Woodlands Resorts in Wilkes-Barre. The event included business meetings, a luncheon, and a series of competitions as students vied for a spot at the Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference. 

MMI Preparatory School Partners with Lackawanna College to Launch Pre-College Credit Program

MMI Head of School Theresa Long is proud to announce a pre-college credit program with Lackawanna College, enabling MMI students to earn college credits while still in high school. This agreement, finalized in October 2024, follows an extensive evaluation process in which MMI reviewed area colleges and selected Lackawanna College to partner with for Pre-College programs. “Jennifer Novotney (Director of Curriculum and Instruction at MMI) and I met with approximately a dozen colleges and universities this summer, and very quickly Lackawanna College rose to the top, not only for the college’s experience with Pre-College programs but the ability to work...

MMI Students Honored From the National First-Generation Recognition Program

Four students from MMI have been acknowledged by The College Board’s National First-Generation Recognition Program. Corey Buchman, Diane Kim, Isabelle Wells, and Winni Zheng received the honor, which highlights high-performing, underrepresented students. These students have taken eligible PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, or AP Exams and/or met the following criteria: Taken the Fall 2023 PSAT/NMSQT (10th or 11th) or Spring PSAT 10 (10th) and score in the top 10% of test takers from their award program in their state; Or earn a 3+ on 2 or more distinct AP exams in the 9th and/or 10th grade; And earn a cumulative GPA of...
